DEMONIC

Hey husband and I have never seen a bad show until last night at The Ryman in Nashville. Mellencamp came off as a self-important artist with a political agenda rooted in resentment. So we did not get a rock n roll show. We got a lecture, but more than that, the vibe was as dark and depressing as I’ve ever experienced. We could not WAIT to get out of that show.

LOUSY AND BORING.

I have attended 1000’s of concerts including a wide range of both legends and solid opening acts. Hands down this was the worst. Very boring 30+ opening commercial for Turner Classic The his band was so loud with very poor acoustics Mellencamp took a break to ramble forever Acoustic set ok but weak set list On to an audio recording by Joanne Woodward My wife and I left after an hour Couldn’t take it anymore.

RIDICULOUS

We were so excited about seeing Mellencamp. It was interesting to see the set and movies clips- love old black and white films! Then we sat there for over 30minutes watching movies I could see at home. He finally came out and it was almost comical. Strumming the guitar and then posing during songs. Almost letting the crowd sing an entire song. It was the worst. Then lecturing about the homelessness in our country while bragging about giving some lady on the street some money when he saw her outside a restaurant …. What? Hollywood at its finest.

WORST CONCERT EVER

I went with the wife last night in Detroit and what an awful experience. I could not believe how bad it really was so I Googled Mellencamp reviews and stumbled across this thread. The 30 minute opener was a total snooze fest and it took another 20 minutes to finally play a hit (Check it Out). Next was some weird crazy rambling by a bitter old man followed by the worst version of Jack and Diane I have heard in my life. He played a bunch of other snoozers and that was enough for me to leave early. I looked at the set list and did not even care I missed Hurts So Good, Cherry Bomb and Pink Houses. People come to hear the hits! Not some old man’s BS! Mellencamp should be ashamed for treating his fans like this

WHAT A BUST!

I was given tickets to the John Cougar Mellencamp concert for Christmas. It was the worst concert I have been to. He seemed bent on his own boring agenda. Let me give you an example. The concert began with a 35 minute reel of old movie clips. The crowd wasn't checked in, and starting calling "We want music". The concert, which he said was not a concert, but a performance was lacklustre at best. He told stories that fell flat, and too many songs that his audience didn't know. A big waste of money. Venue (Massey Hall) was great as always.

DISAPPOINTING

Very disappointing concert. Started out with 25 minutes of movie clips from old movies taht had nothing to do with anything. You would have thought he would have come out and explained why we had to sit through that. About a 3rd of the way through the set, someone yelled out from the audience for him to qiut story telling an play music. He got very vulger with is language and walked off the stage saying concert was over. He then came back out about 5 minutes later, sang about 4 songs and walked off. Never appoligized for anything or made any comments or even thanked us for coming. He voice was very rough and his back up singers did a lot of the singing. Shouldn't have waisted my money.
