Maceo Parker: the man who embodies the legacy of soul and funk music like no other musician can.
Centennial Hall
Widely known for his work with late soul singer James Brown, musician Maceo Parker will be bringing his big band on tour. The jazz saxophonist was prominent in the funk, soul and jazz scene throughout the '60s and '70s and has toured as a soloist since the '90s. This tour comes close to Parker's 77th birthday and is a celebration of his musical longevity.
Parker has decades of work under his belt and has been awarded with accolades recognizing his talent. He received Les Victoires du Jazz, a lifetime achievement award in Paris in 2012 and the North Carolina National Heritage Award from his home state in 2016.
